Although the start of the season hasn’t gone very well after the 4th place in Dakhla, I managed to win in the second stop of the World Championship held in Leucate. I’m super happy because I trained a lot this winter after my shoulder injury and have also worked hard with the R&D guys from Best to have the best gear possible, and now the results are coming!

I can only say I’m very glad, has been a great competition. Leucate is always a very demanding place where conditions are harsh; strong, gusty and cold wind, but is usually quite good for me. I’m satisfied with my performance again, especially in the final of the double elimination against Karolina Winkowska. In Dakhla she left me out of the podium, and in this competition I’ve taken revenge!

I’m also very surprised with the level of the women, it is becoming higher and higher. I remember few years ago, where we could barely execute a trick in these conditions. Now we are much stronger and can make several handlepasses in a heat.

The next event will be held in the Netherlands from the 15th till the 20th of May. Stay tuned. This year’s World Tour is going to be very disputed!

¡Hola chicos!

Aunque el inicio de la temporada no ha sido muy bueno después de la 4º posición en Dakhla, he conseguido ganar en la segunda prueba del Mundial celebrada en Leucate. Estoy súper contenta porque este invierno he entrenado mucho después de la lesión de hombro y también he trabajado con los diseñadores de Best para tener el mejor equipo posible, y ¡ahora vienen los resultados!

Sólo puedo decir que estoy muy feliz, ha sido una gran competición. Leucate siempre es un lugar muy exigente donde las condiciones son muy duras; viento fuerte, racheado y frío, pero se me suele dar bien. Estoy satisfecha de nuevo con mi actuación, sobretodo en la final de la doble eliminatoria contra Karolina Winkowska. En Dakhla ella me dejó fuera del podio, y en esta prueba ¡he tomado la revancha!

También estoy muy sorprendida por el nivel de las mujeres, cada vez es más y más alto. Recuerdo años anteriores, donde apenas podíamos ejecutar algunas maniobras en estas condiciones. Ahora somos mucho más fuertes, y podemos hacer varios handlepasses en una manga.

La próxima cita se celebra en Holanda del 15 al 20 de mayo. Estad atentos. ¡Este año el Tour Mundial va a estar muy disputado!

I came to Dakhla a week earlier to train with the conditions here and get used to them, but the truth is that it hasn’t been very helpful. Before the event began I was riding with 6 and 7m, and during the stop I competed with 9 and 11m. I also have to admit that it isn’t a spot I’m good in it. Last year I started wining in Thailand, but I got second in this competition. The wind has usually been light, which it’s not so good for me, and really strong current.

You can’t always win. The level of my opponents is very high, as they have shown, and I must keep training hard and look forward to fight for the first place in France, from the 7th till the 12th of April.

La primera competición de la temporada celebrada en Dakhla ya ha terminado. Como siempre, empiezo muy motivada y con muchas ganas, ya que competir es lo que me gusta; pero este año no ha podido ser con una victoria. El resultado que he obtenido no ha sido el que me hubiese gustado. 4º es una posición muy dura ya que te deja fuera del podio; pero a pesar de todo, estoy muy contenta con mi actuación. He hecho una de las mejores mangas de mi carrera deportiva, y a nivel personal, significa mucho para mí.

He ido a Dakhla una semana antes para entrenar con las condiciones que hay allí y adaptarme a ellas, pero lo cierto es que no ha sido muy útil. Antes de que empezara el evento estuve navegando con 6m y 7m, y durante la prueba competí con 9m y 11m. También tengo que admitir que no es un spot que se me de bien. El año pasado empecé ganando en Tailandia, pero quedé segunda en esta competición. El viento por lo general siempre ha estado flojo, lo que me perjudica bastante, y la corriente muy fuerte.

No siempre se puede ganar. El nivel de mis rivales es muy alto, como han demostrado, y hay que seguir entrenando duro y mirar hacia delante para luchar por el primer puesto en Francia, desde el 7 al 12 de abril.

As you know, I turned 18 on 14th January. And for every grownup, the driving license is an outstanding task. For this reason, together with Red Bull, Carlos Sainz Jr. has given me some driving lessons. Without doubt, the best teacher someone can have. It’s a great honor for me that he has taught me. I also had the opportunity to drive a Formula 3. Insane! It has been an incredible and unforgettable experience. Check out the photos and video of the event!

¡Hola a todos!

Cómo sabéis, el pasado 14 de enero cumplí 18 años. Y para todo mayor de edad, el carnet de conducir es una asignatura pendiente. Por ese motivo, junto a Red Bull, Carlos Sainz Jr. me ha dado unas lecciones de pilotaje. Sin lugar a dudas, el mejor profesor que se puede tener. Todo un honor que él me haya enseñado.
Además tuve la oportunidad de conducir un Fórmula 3. ¡Que pasada! Ha sido una experiencia increíble e inolvidable. Aquí os dejo unas fotos y el vídeo de las prácticas. ¡Espero que os guste!

No sólo hemos escogido Sudáfrica por sus variadas condiciones. Tras mi fichaje con Best Kitebarding, hemos venido aquí para estar junto a los diseñadores de las cometas y así poder prepara el equipo para este 2012. Hemos trabajado mucho y el resultado ha sido muy positivo. El estar tan cerca de ellos y la buena comunicación que hemos tenido ha hecho que las cosas salgan muy bien. Realmente estoy satisfecha con lo que hemos conseguido.

Además aprovecho para presentaros mi nueva página web. Estoy muy ilusionada con ella. Espero que os guste y la disfrutéis.
Esta tarde viajaremos hacia Tarifa. Aunque voy a seguir entrenando tanto física como  técnicamente, voy a centrarme más en el bachillerato para prepararme los exámenes de la 2º evaluación. Es difícil compaginar los estudios con mi vida profesional, pero estoy muy motivada y tengo muchas ganas de terminar para empezar la universidad.

Hey everyone!
I’m writing you from Madrid. Yesterday we came back from our trip in South Africa. Last year we chose Kenya for preseason training and was a success. This time we decided to know the South African lands for its constant winds. I can say that has also been great coming here. After my shoulder injury, my technical level wasn’t in the best moment. Being three months without going out to the water is very hard. But my fitness has made that in these three weeks I spent in Cape Town recover my previous level.

We’ve not only chosen South Africa for its various conditions. After signing with Best Kitebarding we’ve come here to be with the kite designers so we can prepare the equipment for this 2012. We’ve worked hard and the result has been very positive. Being so close to them and the good communication we have had, has made things go very well. I’m really satisfied.

I also take the opportunity to present my new website. I’m very excited about it. I hope you like and enjoy it!
This afternoon we are traveling to Tarifa. Although I will continue training physical and technically, I will focus more on my high school to prepare the exams of the 2nd evaluation. It’s difficult to combine studies with my professional life, but I’m very motivated and looking forward to start college.

Sorry I haven’t updated my website since the competition in Germany. I’ve been doing several events with my sponsors, Movistar and Red Bull; and starting the 2º grade of online high school. Even so, you can follow me closely on my Facebook page and Twitter.

I have an interesting story to tell you. This October was celebrated the most expected event of the year, the Red Bull Battle of Trafalgar. It was a competition inspired in the naval battle there was 200 years ago between the British and French-Spanish troops. Unfortunately we lost, but this year we got the revenge. The Spanish army composed by Alex Pastor, Alvaro Onieva, Liam Whaley, Patrick Blanc, Silvester Ruckdaschel and I as captain, did a great job in strategy. This was my first team competition and has been a fun experience.

The bad news is that in the last race of the Battle of Trafalgar I dislocated my shoulder. Two days later, I went to Barcelona to do a MRI of the affected area and to see the medical specialists of the FC. Barcelona. The MRI showed some accumulation of synovial fluid and a small fracture of the cartilage, which occurred due to the movement of the humeral head. It’s a small injury, but it has to be recovered 100%. The shoulder is one of the most important parts I use in my sport, especially in freestyle manoeuvres. So I’ll be in Barcelona for 3 weeks to receive the treatment and to do the exercises with Ferran Arnedo, my physical therapist.

Perdonad que no haya actualizado mi pagina web desde la competición de Alemania. He estado haciendo varios eventos junto a mis patrocinadores, Movistar y Red Bull; y empezando el 2º curso de Bachillerato a distancia. Aún así me podéis seguir más de cerca en mi página de Facebook y en Twitter.

Tengo una interesante noticia que contaros. Este mes de octubre se ha llevado a cabo el evento más esperado del año, la Red Bull Batalla de Trafalgar. Ha sido una competición inspirada en la batalla naval que hubo 200 años atrás entre las tropas ingleses y franco-españolas. Desafortunadamente perdimos, pero este año tuvimos la revancha. La armada española compuesta por Alex Pastor, Álvaro Onieva, Liam Whaley, Patrick Blanc, Silvester Ruckdaschel y yo como capitana hizo un gran trabajo de estrategia y conseguimos vencer. Esta ha sido mi primera competición por equipos y ha sido una experiencia muy divertida.

La mala noticia es que en la última manga de la Batalla de Trafalgar me disloqué el hombro. Tan sólo dos días después, me fui a Barcelona para hacer una resonancia de la zona afectada y ver a los médicos especialistas del FC. Barcelona. La resonancia mostró cierta acumulación de líquido sinovial y una pequeña fractura del cartílago, que se produjo debido a la salida y entrada de la cabeza del húmero. Es una lesión pequeña, pero se tiene que recuperar al 100%. El hombro es una de las partes que más utilizo en mi deporte, especialmente en las maniobras de freestyle. Por ello estaré 3 semanas en Barcelona recibiendo el tratamiento y realizando ejercicios junto a Ferrán Arnedo, mi fisioterapeuta.

Muchas gracias a todos por vuestro ánimos. Estos momentos son difíciles, pero estoy muy motivada para recuperarme lo antes posible de la lesión.

este es uno de los post que más me cuesta redactar. No siempre es fácil expresar tus sentimientos mediante palabras.
Felicidad es lo que siento ahora mismo por haber ganado mi octavo título mundial de kitesurf. La verdad es que cuando lo piensas, es una pasada. Con tan solo 17 años, ser la mejor en lo que más me gusta y me divierte.

Ante todo me gustaría agradecer a los que me han apoyado y acompañado en esta gran aventura. En especial a mi familia, mi padre, mi madre, mis amigos, mis patrocinadores, mis seguidores (de Facebook y Twitter también). Cada uno de vosotros sois los que hacéis posible que mi sueño se cumpla.

Cuando me despierto por la mañana no lo pienso, pero ahora me doy cuenta de lo afortunada que soy por tener esta vida. Es dura e implica mucho trabajo y dedicación, pero la recompensa es grande, muy grande.

Me voy a tomar unos días de descanso, creo que todos nos los merecemos. Más adelante quiero enfocarme en mis proyectos personales como sacarme el carnet de conducir, empezar 2º de bachillerato, abrir nuevos Gisela Pulido Pro Center por el mundo y lanzar mi nueva marca. Llevamos 3 años ensayando y haciendo pruebas, y creemos que es el momento.

Hi guys,

this post is one of the most difficult to write for me. It’s not always easy to express your feelings through words.
Happiness is what I feel right now after wining my eighth kitesurf world title. The truth is that when you think it is just amazing. With only 17 years old, be the best at what I like and enjoy.

First of all I would like to thank those who supported and accompanied me in this great adventure. Especially to my family, my father, my mother, my friends, my sponsors, my fans (in Facebook and Twitter as well). Each of you are who make my dream come true.

When I wake up in the morning I don’t think of it. But now I realize how lucky I am to have this life. It’s hard and involves lot of work and dedication, but the reward is big, very big.

I will take a few days off, I think we all deserve it. Later on I’d like to focus on my personal projects like getting my driver’s license, start 2 degree of high school, open new Gisela Pulido Pro Center around the world and launch my new brand. We have been 3 years trying and doing tests, and we think it’s the time.
